Meet The Team

Kennedy is a director of the Hmong Pride Documentary, and the creator of the Whispers of The Past Project. Kennedy is currently attending UC San Diego after graduating from Luther Burbank High School, and is currently taking on the  Whispers of The Past Project and balancing college, all at once.

Deanave Yang, an 18-year-old Sonoma State student and Grant High School graduate, co-directed Hmong Pride, a documentary that began as a tribute to elders but evolved to highlight the next generation as well. She is now working with the Whispers of the Past team, continuing to collect interviews with Hmong elders for the project.

Laichee Khang, an 18-year-old Sacramento City College student and Luther Burbank High graduate, produced NYAB10K, a documentary on the mistreatment of Hmong girls. She also helped edit Hmong Pride, directed by Kennedy Moua and Deanave Yang, and is now contributing her talents to the Whispers of the Past project.

Brianna Moua, an 18-year-old Sacramento City College student and McClatchy High graduate, co-produced NYAB10K, a documentary exposing the mistreatment of Hmong girls, alongside Laichee Khang. She is now working with her cousin, Kennedy Moua, to help produce and bring the Whispers of the Past project to life.

Michael Siv, an award-winning Cambodian American filmmaker known for Daze of Justice, currently serves as Program Director at the East Bay Asian Youth Center. He is now lending his expertise to the Whispers of the Past team as a producer.

Dee Khang, 27, a former counselor at the East Bay Asian Youth Center, now works at the Sacramento Correctional Facility. Driven by her passion for the Hmong community, she serves as a consultant for Whispers of the Past, bringing her expertise and dedication to the project.

Tyler Easter, 18 --  also a graduate at Luther Burbank, and one of Kennedy Moua's closest friends and a helping hand in the making of Hmong Pride and supporting Kennedy's journey with Whispers of The Past. Tyler is currently attending Sac State College.
